Construct(ion-ic) Begins in Chicago
Well actually it might be more like demolition begins! IONIC as teamed with Nicholas & Associates, Inc for the construction of the new "The Dump" Furniture Store in Deerfield Illinois just outside of Chicago.
The first part of the work relates to the exterior renovations of an existing old Sears store. Architect for IONIC, Bart McElfresh has been working diligently on the store design with corporate to get just the right look desired for not only the exterior but equally as important, nearly 130,000 SF of interior space.
IONIC had to go through approximately 6 months of rezoning and design review boards in the Village of Deerfield in order to be granted acceptance for the work. Principal Architect + Founder, Eugene Thompson made six trips up to Chicago for the monthly meetings required to obtain the approvals.
The exterior is underway while we are still waiting on all the approvals for the interior design package and working with the construction team at Nicholas for meeting all the budgets and time constraints.
The exterior should be wrapped up by the last week of June barring any unforeseen weather issues. We have had lots of snow. The interiors will take about 3 1/2 months once we are granted all the approvals.
We are anxious to see all the work coming together after a long period of planning and design. Be on the look out for updated images on our social media pages and check back here for further updates.
In the meantime, here are a few concept images:
